As we have started to share the news that we are building a swim school, many have asked where the name 'Brighton' comes from.
Lance and I met swimming at Chelsea Piers in New York City. We both swam for the Masters swim team there and when we met, I was coaching the team. Lance is an avid open water swimmer and often went to the beach on the weekends to train. I heard he was headed out to Brighton Beach for a Saturday morning swim and since he had a car (such a luxury in NYC!) I asked if he would give me a ride. Our Brighton Beach swim was the first swim we ever did together. That swim and round-trip car ride was the catalyst for our relationship and so it felt like a fitting name for our swim school. That Brighton Beach swim is a lovely memory and our hope is that you create many lovely memories at Brighton Swim Academy.
